Board of Directors from Across the Region Are Named

The beginning of the year marks the time when Boards of Directors change. In addition to private firms moving and shaking, AIA Philadelphia and Maryland-National Capital Building Industry Association new board members are noted here .

AIA Philadelphia recently announced its new members of the 2004 AIA Philadelphia
Board of Directors who began their terms on January 1, 2004 , under the leadership of
2004 President Scott Killinger, AIA.

Ed Small, president , Tompkins Builders, Inc., announced three officer-level promotions at the company, one of the largest construction firms in the Washington, D.C., area. Shahab Kamrad has been promoted to vice president and construction manager; John Madden, to vice president of purchasing; and James C. Tolbert, Jr., to vice president of business development. These promotions were approved at Tompkins Builders, Inc.'s first Board of Directors meeting as a wholly owned subsidiary of Turner Construction Company.

 

 

Brick industry veteran Paul M. Scott has joined Potomac Valley Brick and Supply Co. (PVB) as vice president, sales. Bringing 34 years of residential and commercial masonry experience to PVB, a full-service supplier of masonry products in the Washington,Baltimore and Northern Va.metropolitan areas, Scott will oversee PVB's sales activities.

The D.C. Metropolitan Subcontractors Association had their 40th Annual Subby Awards at the end of Feburary. The following awards were given:

  • Outstanding General Contractor (Over$100 Million Total Revenue): Bovis Lend Lease; James G. Davis Construction Corp.; Grunley Construction Co.
  • Outstanding General Contractor (Under $100 Million Total Revenue): Tuckman-Barbee Construction; Associated Builders, Inc.; Hubert Construction

  • Outstanding Capitol Vendor Award : Standard Supplies, Inc.; Posner Industries; Ferguson Center-Rockville

  • Special Achievement Award: John McMahon, Miller & Long Construction Co.; Mark Drury, Shapiro & Duncan, Inc.; Gerry Sigal, Sigal Construction Corp.

Karen Singer of Corporate Office Properties Trust, a Columbia-based real estate investment trust, has been promoted to vice president, general counsel and secretary.

Charles D. "Chuck" Ellison Jr. of Miller and Smith Homes was installed recently as
the 43rd President of the Maryland-National Capital Building Industry Association (MNCBIA ). Also installed into office on the Executive Committee for the year 2004 are:
