URS Corp. of Richmond, Va., recently named Bill Cashman branch manager of the company's Richmond, Va., office. In this capacity, Cashman will oversee a staff of 30, primarily serving the local environmental, transportation and utility markets. He has more than 30 years of experience and previously served as a principal transportation planner in URS's Virginia Beach office for the past five years.

KBS of Richmond, Va., recently promoted John Gillenwater to vice president of business development. He will oversee all corporate business development and marketing activities. Gillenwater has more than eight years experience in construction and six years with KBS, most recently as director of the Special Projects Division. In his prior role, he served as the business developer and a project manager for his division.

Syska Hennessy Group of Farfax, Va., recently named David Callan a vice president. In his new position, Callan will serve as Director of Sustainable Design and High Performance Building Technology, responsible for leading the firm's sustainable design practice nationwide. His experience includes the design and analysis of building systems and energy saving measures for projects worldwide, as well as researching and developing analysis techniques for new building technologies. He has been honored with an ASHRAE Excellence in Engineering Award for his work, and was recently named as a GSA Design Excellence Peer.

Dewberry of Fairfax, Va., recently hired Leslie Keelty as director of training and development. Prior to joining Dewberry, Keelty was the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development's Director of Organization Development and Training. She has 17 years of corporate human resources experience, with specific attention to employee development and training initiatives.

Skanska USA Building of Philadelphia, Pa., recently promoted C. Patrick Frederick to project director. Frederick, who previously held the position of senior project manager, will continue to oversee all management phases on select projects. The 33-year construction veteran has experience in managing highly technical pharmaceutical, healthcare, and industrial projects for both private firms and government agencies.

Leo A. Daly of Washington, D.C., recently hired Steven Yates as director of marketing. Yates has ten years of professional experience in the architecture/engineering/construction industry. Prior to joining Leo A. Daly, Yates was the marketing manager for the New York office of Perkins Eastman. He started his career at the New York office of San Francisco-based IA Interior Architects.

Cannon Design of Baltimore, Md., recently hired Barbara Mellema as a Project Manager. Mellema brings to the firm ten years of experience in design leadership, project management, programming, and master planning for a variety of project types. For the last 3.5 years, she has primarily been involved in healthcare planning and design. Mellema will play a key role in the business development of Cannon Design's regional healthcare practice.

Centex Construction of Fairfax, Va., recently announced several promotions and hires. Charlie Arnold was hired as superintendent. Scott Baxter was hired as project manager. Bill Carroll was hired as superintendent. Emily Elder was hired as risk manager. Steven Judd was hired as project manager. Sara Collins was promoted to manager, Integrated Projects Group.

Oak Contracting of Towson, Md., recently hired Brian Fitzgerald and Janine Weiss. Fitzgerald brings more than 27 years of experience and will serve as project manager for the modernization of Parkland Middle School in Montgomery County. Weiss has seven years of experience in the construction industry and will serve as an assistant project manager on various projects.
