Arnold Takes the Helm at Granary

Granary founding principal Michael Arnold replaces John Cummiskey as president and CEO.

Granary Associates has a successor in place for outgoing president John Cummiskey. The Philadelphia firm recently appointed Michael R. Arnold as president and CEO. Arnold is a founding principal of the firm. With more than 32 years of experience, Mr. Arnold has played a major role in the firm’s management and business development, including the expansion of Granary Associates’ healthcare consulting services and the firm’s international initiatives. Former president, John Cummiskey was previously named as the firm’s co-chairman, where he continues to function as a principal and maintain his long-term client relationships. In other personnel moves, the firm promoted Jim Uricchio to associate principal, Andrea Daniels to managing associate, and Jim Marchese to senior associate.

Clark Construction Group of Bethesda, Md., hired Timothy Yost as chief financial officer. Yost will develop best practices for the company’s financial processes and systems, and partner with Clark’s business units and leaders across the country.

Yost was previously CFO with Corporate Executive Board of Arlington, Va.

Thornton Tomasetti promoted R. Wayne Stocks to senior vice president/principal and Mark Tamaro to principal in the Washington, D.C. office. Stocks joined the firm in 2000 and currently manages the Washington, D.C. office. One of Tamaro’s most notable projects is the structural design of the recently completed Washington, D.C. Nationals Baseball Stadium.

The Washington, D.C., office of HOK appointed Catherine Haley as director of interior design. Haley was formerly an associate partner at SOM in New York, and previously was a managing director at Lehman Smith McLeish in D.C.

The Washington, D.C. office of Leo A Daly recently appointed Aram H. Kailian as director of government programs, Annie Axelrod as business development director for the D.C. office, and John N. Barbara as senior associate, design architect.

The Rockville, Md., office of Skanska USA Building hired Anubhav (Abu) Bhargava as a project executive. He is a specialist in the construction of laboratories and biotech facilities.

Grunley Construction of Rockville, Md., hired Michael Tardif as director of integrated project delivery (IPD) systems. He will lead the firm’s business technology and service delivery strategy to improve quality and efficiency in meeting construction and building information needs.

Gilbane Development Company appointed Philip R. Leach as regional director of development in the Vienna, Va., office. In this role, Mr. Leach’s key duties will be to increase the real estate holdings of mixed-use developments, repositioning assets, and new flex-use assets in the Mid-Atlantic region.

KBS of Richmond, Va., hired Tom O’Grady as business development manager of its newly relocated Virginia Beach office. His responsibilities will include direct outreach to current and potential clients, delivery of project proposals and assistance with the firm’s ongoing strategic growth in Hampton Roads.

The Falls Church, Va., office of Suffolk Construction Company hired Gary Ball as vice president, Rod Cornell as vice president and Susan Kleinman as director of marketing.

Parsons Brinckerhoff hired Steven Deck and Margaret Mund as senior supervising planners. Deck will manage a new PB office in Harrisburg, Pa. Mund will focus on managing environmental and planning projects as well as strategic development and implementation of public involvement and educational outreach programs.

KlingStubbins recently announced two new hires. Richard Lombardi joined the firm as chief mechanical engineer of the Washington, DC, office. Scott Grove is its new national human resource director based in Philadelphia.

Davis Carter Scott of McLean, Va., promoted Robert Atkinsonand Christine Garrity to vice president.

Cannon Design recently announced several personnel changes. The firm promoted Richard F. Williams and Lala-Rukh Waqar Matties to associate vice president. Patricia A. Bou has been promoted to vice president. Buffy R. McCord and Elisa L. Mesch joined the firm as interior designers.

Warfel Construction Company of Lancaster, Pa., hired David Schwebel as chief estimator.

Hubert Construction of Gaithersburg, Md., hired Chuck Claar as vice president of business development.

Bowman Consulting of Chantilly, Va., expanded their federal program with the addition of Thomas George as senior program manager. In other moves, Christopher M. Mohn joined Bowman’s Winchester, Va., office as director of planning and landscape architecture.

Trammell Crow Residential of Rockville, Md., hired Mark Barberich as project executive in its Mid-Atlantic region.

Korth Abramson Construction of Gaithersburg, Md., hired Neil Heyison as director of business development. Also joining the company are Fred Seymour as an estimator and Tim Gelmacher as a superintendent.

Urban Engineers of Philadelphia promoted George H. Willis to senior vice president and hired Robert P. Snowden as senior project manager and practice leader of the firm’s construction practice in Maryland.

ECS Mid-Atlantic of Chantilly, Va., hired Elizabeth R. Giese as director of marketing for transportation and infrastructure.

Pennoni Associates of Philadelphia hired D. Scott Bigley as associate vice president. Also joining Bigley are his former employees Kevin Zhao and Matthew Spirk. The three will work out of Pennoni’s Lehigh Valley office in its structural division.
